Think taking the stairs instead of the elevator won't make a difference in your waistline? According to one study (Brownell, Stunkard, and Albaum, 1980), climbing even just two flights of stairs each day can lead to about 6 lbs of weight-loss per year. It's easy to do, easy to integrate into your day, and good for the planet. So instead of sitting on the sidelines always saying, 'yeah, that sounds like a good idea', but not actually implementing good advice, silence your inner whiner and just take the stairs anyway.

And for those of you who still aren't convinced, there are some additional fringe benefits to taking the stairs. For example: no awkward silences in cramped elevators!
